Cameras

Notice that my wedding video work does not look anything like regular "home video". This is due to several key factors, including my uniquely developed style of filming (image framing / composition and camera movement) and my (also uniquely developed) editing style... but the cameras that I use make a huge difference all by themselves!

If you were to freeze a single image from a standard video camera (more than 99% of cameras in use today) you would see that the picture is broken up into either even or odd lines (not a whole image). The standard camera will take 60 of these per second and when they are played back on your television one after the other they go by so fast that you won't even notice the holes.

It definitely works... but it also results in what we all recognize as the "home video" look that's so commonly seen in almost all wedding videos. The big Hollywood movie cameras film 24 full image frames per second and the cameras that I use were designed to do exactly this digitally for the small independent filmmaker. As a matter of fact, I got into wedding video after first obtaining my equipment for the purpose of filming actual movies! When you watch my wedding video samples you will notice that there is indeed something different (aside from my own creativity) about the images themselves... and now you know why!
